Located in Iron River, MI

The cemetery is located within the city limits of Iron River at the intersection of River Avenue and Hunter Road.

Records: Records for this cemetery are kept on file with the Iron River City Clerk.  The telephone number is (906) 265-4719.  Also on file are the Burial Transfer Permits which give exact death date, location, and cause of death for many of the individuals buried in this cemetery, going back as far as 1946.  It should be noted that there are a good number of graves in this cemetery marked "unknown".  All spellings appear here as they were on the tombstones.

History:  The village of Iron River was platted in 1881 when the area began to be settled, based around the mining of iron ore.  In 1903 $150 was put up for the purpose of establishing a cemetery.  Some of the founding fathers and early settlers of the community are buried here.  Recent burials have been rare.

Please contact me if your own family has someone buried in this cemetery that is not shown on these records, and perhaps the records with the city can be corrected.  What you find here is a combination of what the city has on record and along with the information gathered after carefully inspecting the tombstones.
